My Style
Because I was born and raised in the Hawaiian Islands, I naturally have a warm and friendly personality. This individual style helps me easily and quickly connect with people and helps them feel relaxed, cared for, and supported. This quality is important in building the essential trust that is needed in a therapeutic relationship and contributes to the success of the process.
I am non-judgmental and direct with people and am known to sometimes challenge my clients and highlight where I believe they are stuck, thereby encouraging their movement toward necessary change. I expect a commitment and a certain level of accountability for the process to be effective. I will lead the way, but my clients do the work.
My clinical approach is humanistic and I look at a person in context of their family systems, cultural influences and individual nature and temperament. With my guidance, my clients develop new behaviors and new thinking to replace old survival patterns learned in childhood.
My style, combined with excellent education, clinical training and life experience, gives me the ability to successfully help people find their way to happier lives.
